Santa Maria Speedway
We’re Back! Season Opener This Saturday
This Saturday, April 4th, Santa Maria Speedway opens its gates for the first event of the season on the famed third-mile clay oval. The evening will feature the California Regional 305 Sprint Car Series, Dwarf Cars, WRA Midgets/Sprints and California Lightning Sprints. We are also proud to recognize Santa Maria Regional Transit (SMRT) employees, who will be joining us for a night of exciting racing action.
The California Regional 305 Sprint Car Series is already three races into its 2026 campaign. George Tristao Jr. currently leads the championship standings, with Davey and Anthony Pombo rounding out the top three. This weekend continues their championship battle while also marking the inaugural race toward the Santa Maria Speedway 305 track championship. The series has nine events scheduled for the 2026 season.
The California Lightning Sprints are also underway for 2026. After three races, veteran driver Jeff Dyer holds a slim seven-point lead over Aiden Lange. Cody Nigh, Brent Sexton, and Tyler Warner complete the top five in points. Lange captured the win during the series’ last visit to Santa Maria Speedway in 2025.
Local Dwarf Cars will kick off their 2026 season this weekend. Brandon Wiley enters as the defending track champion after a standout 2025 season that included four victories. He’ll look to defend his title against a strong field of local competitors eager to take the top spot.
WRA Vintage Midget and Sprint Cars will also be on hand for an exhibition race.
Pit gates open Saturday at 1:00 PM, with fan gates opening at 4:00 PM. Cars will hit the track for hot laps at approximately 4:30 PM, with racing scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM. For pre-sale tickets, visit www.santamariaspeedway.net
